Mar 20 2009

Not surprisingly for the Friday after such an eventful week, this was not very active day. A few early scalps on FAS and BAC and nice $1+ win on FAZ allowed us to stay mostly inactive in the afternoon. Next week should be interesting.

Session Time: Fri Mar 20 00:00:00 2009

[08:23] {Threei}  Good morning
[08:24] {nemo} Haroo
[08:24] {Threei}  (EU) FRENCH PRESIDENT SARKOZY: EU HAS AGREED TO DOUBLE THE EMERGENCY FUND FOR CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPEAN NATIONS TO 50B
[08:24] {Threei}  - Clarifies that the EU's contribution to the IMF will be 75B.
[08:24] {Threei}  - Notes the EU backs the De Larosiere Report on reforming financial regulation.
[08:24] {nemo} Well, at least more countries are debasing there currencies...We'll all meet at the bottom
[08:25] {Threei}  - Reminder: On 3/18, Former IMF managing director and ex-Bank of France Governor De Larosiere told the FT that he wants the EU to create bodies to coordinate oversight and form a "European Systemic Risk Council" that would be chaired by the ECB
[08:25] {Threei}  I don't know if that's that straightforward
[08:26] {Threei}  gold/oil bugs oversimplify situation I think
[08:26] {Threei}  their line of thinking:
[08:26] {nemo} what, debasing currencies?
[08:26] {Threei}  USD prints money,
[08:26] {Threei}  otger countries do too,
[08:26] {Threei}  so paper currencies devaluate against gold/oil
[08:27] {Threei}  but this l.ogic takes us back to $200 oil
[08:27] {Threei}  or $500
[08:27] {Threei}  or whatever
[08:28] {Threei}  so he next question is
[08:28] {Threei}  can economy function with that kind of prices?
[08:28] {Threei}  certainly didn't look like that just last summer
[08:28] {Threei}  aand if not, oil will be knocked back down again
[08:29] {Threei}  so question remains... devaluation against what?
[08:29] {Threei}  plus, there is deflation camp that argues we can't have deflation until money supply exceeds debt
[08:30] {Threei}  sorry, can't end deflation
[08:30] {Threei}  and switch to inflation
[08:30] {Threei}  and so far all those trillion here trillion there haven't even started making dent in debt
[08:31] {nemo} isn't that trillion debt?
[08:32] {Threei}  UASUA
[08:32] {Threei}  GUIDES Q1 RPM -13.5-14.5%, ASM -11.7% Y/Y - FILING
[08:32] {Threei}  UAUA
[08:35] {Threei}  http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2009/02/fiat-world-mathematical-model.html
[08:35] {Threei}  here is the theory
[08:35] {Threei}  better than my bastardized version
[08:35] {Threei}  (IA) IRANIAN SUPREME LEADER ALI KHAMENEI: WORLD POWERS KNOW THEY CANNOT BLOCK IRAN'S NUCLEAR PROGRESS, MAKES NO MENTION OF PRESIDENT OBAMA'S MESSAGE
[08:35] {Threei}  - Ali Khamenei's remarks come in response to President Obama's offer that the US is ready to address a full range of issues with Iran and pursue constructive ties.
[08:37] {cosmo} Barky can handel it....
[08:38] {nemo} why fas go vertical
[08:38] {Threei}  don't see anything
[08:38] {Threei}  unless that Iranian headline is something to prop the market
[08:39] {Threei}  or
[08:39] {Threei}  (EU) EU'S BARROSO: 'CONCRETE LINES' HAVE BEEN AGREED FOR UPCOMING G-20 SUMMIT
[08:39] {nemo} Mmmmhhhh....that's right G20 this weekend...why get together now unless something will come out of it
[08:41] {cosmo} to hear obama?
[08:41] {cosmo} speak?
[08:41] {nemo} oy
[08:42] {Threei}  (GE) GERMAN FIN MIN STEINBRUECK: HAVE TO BE CAREFUL THAT SOME EU NATIONS DON'T FALL INTO FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY
[08:42] {Threei}  god forbid someone experience financial difficulty
[08:43] {cosmo} its all so ....relative
[08:44] {Threei}  BOA CHIEF ECONOMIST LEVY: SEE A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL FOR HOUSING;
[08:44] {Threei}  HOUSING DEMAND SHOULD STABILIZE IN 2H 2009 - RADIO INTERVIEW

[09:14] {vint} good morning all
[09:15] {Threei}  vint :)
[09:15] {magoo} yea..i have 4 windows
[09:16] {Threei}  after quite an eventufl week, we have three possibilities for today
[09:16] {Threei}  1. rally resumption after yesterday's pullback
[09:17] {Threei}  2. selloff resumption after bounce, continuation of yesterday's selling
[09:17] {Threei}  3. meek day with traders not wanting to commit to anything
[09:17] {Threei}  I've no slightest idea which one has better odds
[09:19] {Threei}  going to take it slowly, on play by play basis
[09:20] {Threei}  and stay with idea of better miss something than opush for the play that isn't there
[09:20] {Threei}  we handled this week beautifully, not going to spoil it before the weekend
[09:21] {vint}   Bernanke to speat at noon, not sure whether it will have any impact
[09:25] {cosmo} ERIC pre mkt high = 8.57   fwiw
[09:32] {Threei}  watching RIMM for bounce if sells down to 42.40 - .50 area
[09:33] {Threei}  FAS is trying to form bottom
[09:33] {Threei}  if holding above .50, .60 break is long
[09:34] {magoo} BAC clubbed vad
[09:34] {magoo} read?
[09:34] {Threei}  same as FAS
[09:34] {Threei}  .60 break entry is .50 holding
[09:35] {Threei}  FAS invalidated
[09:35] {dino} mant wide spread
[09:36] {Threei}  one more leg down and should be bounce-ready
[09:36] {Threei}  or .50 break with stop under .40
[09:36] {magoo} which?
[09:36] {Threei}  FAS
[09:37] {Threei} Long Setup:  RIMM  .80 break half lot
[09:37] {Threei}  grr
[09:37] {Threei}  late
[09:37] {Threei}  ok pulled back for entry
[09:37] {Threei}  stop under .60
[09:37] {magoo} .83 in
[09:37] {vinod} in bac 6.60
[09:38] {Threei}  a bit too high for BAC
[09:39] {vinod} 0ut 6.68
[09:39] {Threei}  after it lost support, setuip has changed
[09:39] {Threei}  same way as we changed FAS setup
[09:40] {vinod} thanks
[09:40] {dino} scanners going red
[09:40] {fernp} Hello everybody
[09:40] {Threei}  fern :)
[09:41] {Threei}  FAS invalidated again
[09:41] {Threei}  look at BAC now vinod
[09:42] {Threei}  aren't you glad you abandoned that ship
[09:42] {vinod} yes, learning and cinfuse also
[09:43] {dino} mant most likely wants gap fill
[09:43] {Threei}  FAS, double bottom attempt
[09:43] {Threei}  .50 break long
[09:43] {Threei}  stop under .30
[09:44] {Threei}  sorry, .40 break on FAS
[09:44] {magoo} in
[09:45] {vinod} in fas

[09:49] {Threei}  FAS 1:2
[09:49] {Threei}  just exit
[09:49] {Threei}  ADBE over 1:1
[09:49] {Threei}  1:2 actually
[09:49] {Threei}  after 1:1, stop routinely trailed to under b/e
[09:51] {Threei} Long Setup:  GE  .60 break
[09:51] {Threei}  stop under .55
[09:54] {Threei}  half out .72
[09:54] {Threei}  stop to .59
[09:54] {Threei}  beauty of aggressive entries...
[09:54] {magoo} out .75 TY
[09:55] {Threei}  if you played this double bottom regular way, you would be buying .70 break
[09:55] {Threei}  double bottom confirmation
[09:55] {Threei}  aggressive entry gave much tighter stop and so much more room foer profit
[09:55] {magoo} nice boss
[09:56] {nemo} FAS Vad
[09:58] {Threei}  stop to .69 GE
[09:58] {Threei}  1:2

[09:59] {Threei}  yeah
[09:59] {Threei}  OK FAS
[09:59] {Threei}  .40 break long again
[09:59] {Threei}  if holdiong .30
[10:00] {Threei}  if losing it, can drop into 5 easily unless recrosses back immediately
[10:00] {magoo} RIMM animal
[10:00] {Threei}  so don't be in a hurry to catch it if it loses .30
[10:02] {Threei}  SEC COMMISSIONER WALTER: LOOKING INTO INSIDER TRADING AT SUBPRIME LENDERS
[10:06] {Threei}  okay FAS... if you insist that we get better entries, we won't mind
[10:06] {Threei}  I hear like 10 times over last days:
[10:06] {nemo} prez speaking?
[10:07] {Threei}  yeah, decision to claw back bounces is questionable from legal and constitutional point of view, but considering public outrage we are willing to do it
[10:07] {magoo} mkts red
[10:07] {Threei}  having soviet background, you have no idea how scary this sounds
[10:07] {Threei}  enemy of the people label comes to mind

[10:15] {vint} vad-do you use 1 mt or 5 mt charts?
[10:15] {Threei}  1 min and daily
[10:15] {vint} thanks
[10:15] {Threei}  for scalping, 5 min is too long

[10:16] {vinod} fas stii good at 0.40?
[10:16] {nemo} AUY Vad?
[10:16] {Threei}  no on FAS
[10:16] {vint} got it, i was using 5 mt
[10:16] {Threei}  for that trade to become valid again, it needs to consolidate between .30 and .40 for a few minutes
[10:17] {Threei}  the longer the better
[10:17] {vinod} o.k
[10:17] {Threei}  AUY looks standard on intraday... .35 trigger, stop under .25
[10:17] {Threei}  what bothers me is
[10:17] {nemo} the runup
[10:18] {Threei}  I rarely see this stock following through on this kind of setups
[10:18] {Threei}  this goes for most of gold/silver stocks btw
[10:18] {nemo} tck has same chart
[10:19] {dino} feels like yesterday
