Jun 16 2011

Perfectly profitable day with trades working like charm, short and long (mostly short), with good variety of names: TZA, RIMM, SLW, FCX, X, YOKU, MOS...

Catch of the Day today is one of our "bread and butter" setups - double bottom on MOS. All classic signs of reversal are listed in the notes on the chart. They repeat in most double bottom/tops, so no further comments needed. Almost two dollars bounce for 10-15 cents risk - not too shabby.

[10:28] {Threei} that's why "smaller shares" comment, riz
[10:28] {rizvisy1} yeah
[10:29] {Threei} ok, TZA was not very clear, so who skipped it, let's try to catch it on pullback
[10:29] {rizvisy1} me

[10:34] {Threei} .11
[10:35] {dino} here
[10:35] {Threei} why is it so confusing??
[10:35] {Threei} that was a break of .10 as initial trigger,
[10:35] {Threei} it was not too clear because of deeper pullback,
[10:35] {Threei} so after break and jump I made a comment about catching it on pullback into trigger
[10:35] {Threei} which it did
[10:35] {rizvisy1} TZA perfect timing Vad
[10:36] {Threei} ty
[10:36] {Threei} what should I change in the way I do running commentary so it would be clearer?
[10:36] {rizvisy1} for pull back catching
[10:36] {davd} ok - too much reading :D

[11:07] {Threei} GR) Greece PM: Have not reached an agreement on a new Greece bailout; issues have now spread and is an issue for greater EUrope
[11:11] {Threei} the biggest mystery of these time is how Euro can be anywhere near 1.40
[11:11] {Threei} it has no business being 1.30, 1.20 or wvwn 1
[11:11] {Threei} even
[11:11] {davd} it has no business being a currency
[11:11] {Threei} right
[11:12] {_nsj100} yep
[11:12] {Threei} simply by virtue of EU having no business to exist
[11:12] {_nsj100} i like gold eagles
[11:13] {Threei} if you settle on golden eagle, I've got one:

[11:14] {RonS} pir classic db reversal which i missed...
[11:14] {_nsj100} i checked out your others too, nice

[11:14] {_nsj100} lol
[11:15] {_nsj100} a photo is worth more than 1000 words
[11:16] {Threei} wow, productive day, two imbeciles in one news item:
[11:16] {Threei} (US) Fed's Tarullo: There is a rationale to determine a range of surcharges on systemically important financial institutions (SIFI) - financial services panel comments
[11:16] {Threei} - US Treasury's Brainard: Capital surcharges for SIFIs should have an international standard
[11:16] {rizvisy1} .
[11:16] {Threei} Tarullo and Brainard, you guys are idiots
[11:16] {Threei} despite latter's last name implying otherwise
[11:17] {dino} missed pir too ron, wanted .51
[11:17] {_nsj100} get rif of them all and we can keep the surcharges
[11:18] {Threei} closed SLW balance

[11:33] {davd} good call re fcx threei - aint moving with market
[11:35] {davd} threei what is the 'tradethenews' rate re your discount

[12:05] {RonS} hrbn...some scared of halt
[12:06] {Threei} why
[12:06] {Threei} reason for decline is known
[12:06] {RonS} dunno...rmbs experience?
[12:06] {Threei} circuit-breaker one is possible if volatility increases
[12:06] {Threei} that was curcuit-breaker hatl
[12:07] {RonS} so what still a halt
[12:07] {Threei} not "news dissemaination" one
[12:07] {Threei} no
[12:07] {Threei} very different
[12:07] {Threei} sharp move with no news followed by halt can continue indefinitely,
[12:07] {Threei} sometimes for weeks
[12:07] {Threei} I mean halt can continue
[12:07] {RonS} maybe possibility of junkie chinese stock halt
[12:07] {RonS} :D
[12:08] {Threei} curcuit-b reaker halt, however unpleasant, is a few minutes
[12:08] {RonS} gotcha
[12:08] {Threei} there were halts caused by exchange requesting information,
[12:08] {Threei} those are real killers
[12:09] {Threei} three weeks long one I remember
[12:09] {Threei} and finally news that came out were not too pleasant,
[12:09] {Threei} plus fear accumulated over this time, generating a lot of sell market orders
[12:09] {Threei} opening was, how to say it softly

[12:37] {Threei} what an unbeliavable mess:
[12:37] {Threei} (EU) ECB's Mersch: A disorderly default of a euro zone state would have devastating consequences; emphasizes that monetary policy must never monize public debts
[12:37] {Threei} - Reiterates ECB will not hesitiate to address inflation risks.
[12:37] {Threei} - It is up to governments to come up with a fiscal solution to the euro zone's problems.
[12:37] {Threei} - Disorderly default would likely cause a new financial crisis.
[12:37] {Threei} - Ratings agencies could see debt rescheduling as a credit event.
[12:37] {Threei} - ECB would not accept bonds with extended maturities as collateral.
[12:39] {Threei} Long Setup: TZA .62 if stays above .50
[12:41] {Threei} here is a beauty:
[12:41] {Threei} (GR) Greek opposition leader: weak Greek economy justifies the opposition to the austerity program
[12:41] {Threei} and strong economy wouldn't require any austerity
[12:41] {Threei} so guy has covered all bases
[12:42] {Threei} whatever angle you take, austerity is not needed
[12:42] {Threei} ok market let's reverse finally

[13:03] {Threei} please be careful to make clear distinction, so everyone knows you call a trade nice, not me
[13:03] {_nsj100} oh ya. sorry
[13:03] {Threei} calling me nice is sureffire way to invoke high levels on nastiness in me
[13:03] {Threei} I mean "even higher" levels
[13:04] {davd} i've never called you nice :D
[13:04] {Threei} me and nice don't even exchange postcards on Christmas
[13:04] {Threei} that's why we are still friends, davd
[13:04] {_nsj100} lol
