Apr 12 2010

Slow grind continues, with most of the day being inactive. A few morning trades yielded modest profits, with best of them being WFC long; the rest were just scalps.

Session Time: Mon Apr 12 00:00:00 2010

[07:47] {_vasilisa} gm all.

[08:27] {Threei} A123Systems Lazard sees possible deal worth up to $100M to supply batteries to Chrysler
[08:27] {Threei} - In a Lazard report, AONE is said to be gaining traction with this deal to supply batteries for the Fiat 500, following other announcements with Navistar and Fisker.
[08:27] {Threei} - This could represent a $100M opportunity and is expected to be introduced to the US market in 2012
[08:27] {Threei} - Maintains Buy rating with a $24 price target
[08:27] {Threei} - Expects solid revenue and earnings growth for the next several years.

[08:38] {strider} CLNE
[08:40] {Threei} Barron's Summary: cautious on LAZ, CLNE
[08:40] {Threei} - Cautious on CLNE on dilution risks and valution. Pickens who controls CLNE has lobbied for a very long time on an energy bill that will subsidize the conversion of trucks to natural gas. As natural gas is cheaper than OPEC's diesel fuels Pickens is optimistic that such bill will be enacted by the Congress. The so-called Pickens plan has already been accepted by Wall Street which values the venture at 45 times the cash flow of analysts for 2010 and 20 times the average forecast for 2011. Barrons argues that such an excitement for a yet unprofitable venture is premature and after a boost of 50% in the shares, the market has more than discounted the potential government subsidies. However, CLNE, despite government subsidies, has failed to report a profit and Barrons argues that the subsidies have merely prevented the company's losses from being deeper. Second, there is a dilution risk as the company has significant capital needs in order to build its fueling infrastructure. Management awards itself with stock options and warrants could dilute earnings to almost 30%. If company reports a profit Pickens will have to exercise its 15M shares warrant lest he loses a profit of $150M

[10:33] {Threei} ok... gives you a hint what to work on, and as such becomes a tuition fee, not wasted material
[10:34] {shorty} It's being more patient I think Threei. I think I still have the "I am going to miss out on this one if I don't get it now"
[10:38] {Threei} market made a few hectic moves in a narrow range, , so our question is,
[10:38] {Threei} which way it breaks
[10:38] {Threei} RIMM
[10:38] {nemo} or just mosey's along until earnings season shows it's fangs

[10:43] {ese} always happens......ahhhhhhhh i'll just take a quick look at something else........and POW!!!!!!!!!!! right in the kisser
[10:43] {Threei} so, you would be in .91 worst case scenario
[10:43] {Threei} .86 - .87 best
[10:44] {ese} i was lookin for .95 break vad
[10:44] {Threei} what can I say... no one listens to me...

[11:50] {shorty} Missed a short on CIEN
[11:50] {Threei} short?
[11:50] {Threei} why would you short it?
[11:50] {shorty} .50
[11:50] {Threei} why?
[11:50] {shorty} looking at the 5 min chart. and t&s
[11:50] {Threei} shirting into spikes?
[11:50] {Threei} shorting
[11:51] {Threei} surefire way to get caught into vicious buying and get killed
[11:51] {shorty} It had a big run up, and was going to short for 5 cents.
[11:51] {Threei} well... good luck with that strategy
[11:51] {shorty} Happy you said that Threei.
[11:52] {Threei} beluieve me... you don't want to do that
[11:52] {Threei} if you are counter-trend trader, no problem with that but your entries must be based on certain setups
[11:52] {Threei} not on arbitrary decision "it's too high"
[11:52] {shorty} I do. I actually do listen half of the time Threei, and this happens to be that half.
[11:53] {Threei} those "too high" become even higher, and higher yet, and soon become insanely high
[11:53] {Threei} while your loss become insanely big

[13:26] {shorty} Watching CIEN Threei, breakout play of .60 if it reaches it?
[13:27] {RonS} fig momo?
[13:27] {Threei} two conditions
[13:27] {Threei} one is market of course,
[13:27] {Threei} another is, it needs to come to .60 slowly and consolidate a little,
[13:27] {Threei} not just jump into it
[13:28] {shorty} OK
[13:28] {magoo} vad, whats your view of mkt here, as in where its headed and how
[13:28] {shorty} Another question. When you say the market, with CIEN are you looking at the COMP?
[13:29] {Threei} any of them, they tend to move together
[13:29] {Threei} but NDX is better measurement than COMP for NASDAQ
[13:29] {Threei} mags, here is my view
[13:30] {Threei} break of 11K was expected to produce sharp spike, which could market the reversal,
[13:30] {Threei} but it didn't.
[13:30] {Threei} Instead we have the same slow grilling
[13:30] {Threei} which tells me, we have more upside,
[13:30] {Threei} probably a lot more.
[13:31] {Threei} Short term we are seriously overbought, pullback will probably come soon enough
[13:31] {Threei} but overall, this market is not done going up
[13:32] {magoo} ty
[13:32] {nemo} without some exogenous tragedy, 12 k should be easy although take a long time
[13:32] {shorty} I want to make sure, the NDX is the QQQQ? Here comes the trout.
[13:32] {magoo} yes
06[13:33] * nemo slaps shorty around a bit with a large book of Techniques of Tape Reading
[13:33] {magoo} did u write that book nemo?
[13:34] {shorty} I have been cluttering my brain with so much info in the past month, I need to format.
[13:34] {RonS} fig entry ideas?
[13:36] {Threei} FIG moved on this:
[13:36] {Threei} 1:00:27 PM
[13:36] {Threei} GMAC to sell European Mortgage Assets and Operations; no material gain or loss expected
[13:36] {Threei} - Residential Capital, LLC (ResCap), has agreed to sell its European mortgage assets and businesses to affiliates of certain funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group LLC
[13:36] {Threei} looks very hard to read ot me
[13:37] {Threei} Separately, GMAC closed a whole loan transaction in the United Kingdom for USD $177 million (GBP 116 million) on March 31, 2010. With the combination of this whole loan transaction, the transactions with the Fortress affiliates, and certain other whole loan sales that are in progress, GMAC will effectively exit the European mortgage market.
[13:37] {Threei} I don't know what it eventually means
[13:38] {Threei} if you can analyze this, more power to you... it's above my pay grade
[13:40] {shorty} I guess with CIEN consolidation is happening.
[13:40] {Threei} a bit far from break point
[13:43] {shorty} So 5 cent range would be ideal then?
[13:44] {shorty} Or like your previous trades, .59 would be the best place.
[13:44] {Threei} hmm?
[13:44] {Threei} sorry, don't understand
[13:45] {shorty} When you played, or tried to, with AONE it was stuck at .99, you said break of 4.
[13:46] {shorty} Issue articulating myself right now. What would be a good range for a breakout point.
[13:49] {Threei} of course the narrower the better, within reasonable,
[13:49] {Threei} so if it spends a while now between .55 and .60, nice break will be formed
[13:49] {shorty} Thanks Threei
