Aug 16 2011

Nice day with enough wins to put it in category "I wish whole summer was like this." Interesting one is a milk trade, Catch of the Day, rewarded us for patient scalping during whole day:

Called as "not a scalp, deserves a real chance" at the time of entry, with exact target assigned 3 min later as it hit .40

[11:01] {dino} markets think that in time euro-bonds will be offered, say 30 days, imo

Aug 15 2011

Very boring and largely flat day, as stops and wins balanced each other out. One trade though was interesting.

How do you trade when you have low level of confidence in the setup? This example shows just that. Let's start with 46.20 level - you can see how it shapes up as breakout setup up to 10:21. The market however is not very conducive to breakouts. To control the risk tighter, my method in this case was:

- enter half lot on pullback to 46.11, stop under 46
- add another half at .21, stop for full lot at .05
- exit half at .28 and 1/4 at .37;
- trail stop to .15 (low of the last pullback, and where the last 1/4 got stopped and stock went down ever since).

Playing it this way, you keep risk small until setup confirms itself. This is also perfect fit to the idea: play small when uncertain, add when certainty increases. Breakout of 46.20 is a confirmation of strength, thus a reason to increase shares; initial entry is done in a very uncertain moment, thus initial size is small.

[12:53] {Threei}  the only thing that matters for the next move is whether they kick the can down the road now
[12:53] {Threei}  or give up
[12:53] {RonS} hard to understand the fascination with it all
[12:53] {Threei}  postpone the collapse, market shoots up
[12:53] {RonS} are they really that afraid of warring with each other still?

Aug 09 2011

Decent day with one stop and a few winning trades. We cut down on activity when the market stalled for a long while, then became extremely volatile after Feds promise to keep rates low for 2 more years. Thought of the day: http://t.co/AhKaQPD

[10:00] {Threei}  lack of synch may cause this current vcandle not to move
[10:00] {nemo} the charts aren't right, can be .30 difference between chart and T&S
[10:00] {Threei}  but setup still should be easily visible
[10:01] {Threei}  and level 2/T&S do the rest
[10:01] {Threei}  wow

[11:53] {Threei}  lol
[11:54] {ese} usually the criteria for winning the award is that your not suppose to survive
[11:57] {ese} although there have been winners who have survived.....the famous one ...story line"testosterone and Beer still don't mix" was a good one.....four guys out golfing...one guy decides he's going to clean his balls......climbs up on the ball washer and sticks his testiicles in...he slips and falls and tears them off there by ridding the gene pool of unwanted gen
